You can do a whole lot right and still have one thing you keep protecting from change. What is one area people usually refuse to be honest about?

This fast is about prayer, surrender, and breaking patterns. It is not a competition, and nobody needs to prove how spiritual they are by harming themselves.

Before the fast

Let your last meal be before 6:00 p.m. Friday, or before sundown. Do not overeat trying to “prepare.” Eat a normal meal, drink water, and decide what you are bringing before God during the fast.

Write down:

• The pattern you are interrupting.

• Where you first saw it.

Some things get stronger only because we keep feeding them. Before tonight ends, think about it: what have you been feeding that you actually want weaker?

Try telling yourself ‘no’ for one day and see what gets loud. The phone. The appetite. The attitude. The person you keep going back to. What is hardest for you to tell no?

Daniel 9:4

“And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;”

A messy beginning does not mean a worthless future. Some families were built through pressure, delay, hurt, and still produced something powerful. What did your family survive that shaped you?
