Why is certain foods forbidden

I believe the reason In the Old Testament was to set apart his people from others. There are also many health issues that come from eating these animals. just because God made it, doesn’t mean we should eat it (Example, forbidden fruit) .he even says the pig is unclean. Back then there were not many ways to kill germs or doctors had no knowledge to cure or help diseases that were raised from eating this food. Many of which still have no cure. However, I do not think it is still forbidden . There are a many scriptures that come to mind ,here are 2 examples, Matthew‬ 15:10-11 and Acts‬ 10:9-17, 21-22, 28-29 but just because it isn’t forbidden anymore does not mean we shouldn’t eat it. Or eat it in moderation
