How long does it take to destroy your flesh? How strong is your flesh? How much power does your flesh have over your soul?
How many decisions do you make based on your flesh? What will you do… what will you give up? How valuable is the desire to pleasure your flesh?
Real preachers have to break down spirits so that you can hear the word of God.
Our goal becomes a failure if the message we preach gets caught in Thorns or on Stoney ground. The word of God should be able to penetrate a soft portion of your flesh to get to your receptive heart. Worldliness and carnality thickens your flesh.
Consider all of the carnality we consume throughout the week. Does all of the worldliness that invaded our eyes and ears have to be broken down? Consider all of the ungodly conversations with sinners, all of the sinful acts that you view on your phone. Your spirit has already processed that.
Try sitting quietly for 5 minutes and think of nothing whatsoever. What are the images that come to your mind? Are any of them of God? Are any of them scriptures? This is what we have to break down first before you can receive the word of God. This is why worship and praise is so important. This is why prayer is Paramount. This is why studying the word of God rather than reading it is so precious. This is also why separating yourself from people who don't have a like mind is important. This is why surrounding yourself with people who are trying to mortify the Deeds of their flesh is precious.
How long should I spend in church? How much sin did you bring with you to church?
How thick is your flesh? How long is too long at church? You are the church.
How long will it take for each person, is based on how much of the devils potion they consume during the week.
Romans 8:13
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
Being that our attention spans aren't what they used to be. I would say maybe an hour and a half at best, but I do remember going to church all day literally.
