Abraham is the 1st person we find in history that destroyed idols. In fact he devised a plan to destroy his own father's idols then blamed it on the idol.
This forced his father Terah, although angry, to admit idols can't do any such thing.
Abraham talked and walked with God himself, making idols offensive and worthless.
God destroyed all the false gods of ancient Egypt, proving he is the most powerful. He did this while preserving his people from any of the plagues.
Imagine these same people that didn't suffer lice, that didn't have their 1st born sons killed, imagine these same people worshipping the false fertility God that has the image of a frog. Frogs was one of the plagues. Each plague was a response to false gods. Each plague represented God's power over these idols.
Why would he then allow his people to worship these Idols? You would then be saying these idols are more powerful than God.
God made an agreement, a contract, a covenant with his friend Abraham and his decendants.
If these decendants worship, bow down, or possess an Idol, how can the real true omnipotent God be pleased.
Walk, through your house and find every Idol or Image of a false God and burn it.
